When u right click a file, what are the commands available to you. They are open, print and some other. Have U ever wanted to rename this open command such that its name gets changed but function remains same. It is possible. It involves a very simple registry click.

Open registry editor by typing regedit in run.

Locate the extension of the file in the registry in HKCR ,e.g. locate .txt

Look for .txt’s default value as shown it is txtfile. Now search for txtfile in HKCR.

Expand this key. Select the shell key. Again expand shell key. Now u will see many subkeys under shell key like open, print. Just rename them to the name u want to.

Restart ur computer to see the changes or press F5 to refresh the registry.
